3 birds in mid distance; 4 more in far distance. None came near shore. Doe and fawn walked in front of us down the beach. Doe looked at us a couple of times, but kept on walking. Saw cormorants and kingfishers. More guano below largest burrow. Smaller burrow above it had guano today. Watched to see if any kingfishers went into burrows, but did not see any.

gunnel
PIGU had a gunnel in its mouth shortly after start of survey. It was greater than 100 yards out. It dipped the gunnel into the water several times. About a minute later there was no gunnel. It ate it? Practicing its technique? Gunnel got away?? No bird came near the shore. There were 2 more PIGUs visible but not near where we were.

juvenile PIGU
watched a juvenile PIGU swimming and diving for food along the shoreline of the cove. Don't know where he came from; could have come around the corner from Dana Passage.
