At 7:35 and again at 7:56 one dropped off the structure, flew in a circle and returned. At 7:50 one left the structure and flew N. At 8:20 one left the structure and flew S. Strong current, birds on water quickly drifted out of sight.
Today only 3 birds were present (the norm) and food was delivered. Given that there were 6 birds and a juvenile in the water last week tends to make one think there actually were 2 nests under that deck. It's just that I can't prove it because I never saw food delivered anywhere except to burrow #1.
Or perhaps the juveniles simply launch at separate times - interesting.
I saw 2 cases that could have been visits at a second nest - 7:55 and 8:05.
It's the same place I suspected a second nest before, but I simply can't prove it. While the low tide allowed me to see into nest 1, it did not allow seeing into what could be a second nest to prove its existence.
Since the survey had ramped down I decided I wouldn't sit in the rain for an hour this morning. I did stop by at low tide (11:30) and, as I suspected, the nest is empty. I saw no PIGUs anywhere. So sometime this week launch finally happened.
