disturbance - Dog Walker (8:15 - )
When a woman and her dog who walk the beach almost everyday came by, the PGs did not respond at all. They just kept messing around close the shore undisturbed. Do they know her?] ..
About 7:30, a group of 9 PGs flew around almost in formation for quite a while, maybe several minutes, longer than usual and then settled different places on the water.
The dog walker cam by again and reported when he had been there about 6:30 AM the previous day, there were lots and lots of visits to the bluff. I'll try to go earlier next week.
Occasional falling stones again.
High tide and grey sky today. Only one visit of any kind to a burrow, BUT the # of birds on the water had nearly doubled! I counted them several times. Could the babes have fledged and joined the adults on the water? I went half an hour earlier hoping for more visits, but there were less. The water had f flattened out pretty much by the end of my watch, so it was quite easy to count them.
Most of the colony seems to be gone. From a normal of 24-26, and then last weeks high of 49, this eek there were only 15. At one point most of them flew around for a while almost in formation and then settled back on the water, but there was no interest in the bluff at all. i do not plan to go out again.
