Observed Burrow Visits
# of unique burrows visited
disturbance - 8:04 dog (N) Same two dogs on return. Birds unfazed. Birds also unfazed at other observer stations when this walker and dogs passed.
disturbance - h:mm7:54 dog (Sm) Birds unfazed until one of the 2 dogs jumped into the water towards the birds sitting on a rock a few feet away. They flew to deep water and began to return 2 minutes later after the dog had moved on.
disturbance - 8:46 eagle (Sm) Only affected south end of colony
disturbance - 9:07 eagle (N) Only seen at south end of colony
disturbance - 9:24 eagle (Sm) Affected northern two stations of colony only
disturbance - 7:57 other (N) 2 deer on beach at south end of colony. No disturbance noted to birds there.
disturbance - h:mm 8:01 dog (N) Same walker with two dogs noted in previous week's report passed by northern 2 stations and did not disturb birds at all.
disturbance - 7:47 eagle (N) Eagle flew over colony and birds briefly scattered, returned quickly.
disturbance - 8:27 unknown (Sm) Birds all flew off bluff for no apparent reason, returned in 2-3 minutes
disturbance - 8:10h:mm unknown (Sm) Only noted at South end of colony
disturbance - 8:28 dog (End) The Walker and two dogs are the same ones who walk through the three northern survey sites virtually every survey date. The birds were not disturbed at any of the sites until the return past the two northernmost sites where he leapt into the water after birds sitting on rocks near shore. Then the birds flew about 20 feet out in the water and remained there for the two minutes before the end of the survey.
disturbance - h:8:19mm eagle (Sm) Eagle flew over the beach at the 3 northern observation sites. Birds were already off bluff and in the water from the start but they flew to somewhat deeper water beginning to return within 2-3 minutes, sending out teams of birds to scout the bluff. I suspect that the eagle has been perched somewhere in the middle of the colony prior to the flyover, because the birds had been in the water and fairly cautious in their execution of fish deliveries prior to the flyover. After the flyover and the five minutes of scouting there was a flurry of activity of birds perching on the bluff around burrows whereas there had been no bluff-sitting earlier during the survey.
disturbance - 7:58 dog (N) No disturbance. Dogs did not make any attempts to go into water after birds today
disturbance - 8:09 eagle (N) Eagle flew south from bluff over south end of colony with minimal disturbance to birds there.
disturbance - h:7:46mm eagle (Sm) Eagle flew north along bluff.
disturbance - 7:59 eagle (Sm) Eagle flew west over bluff edge between colonies 6 and 11 and then over the birds in the water. The birds were already all in the water and they flew to deeper water. In retrospect, we suspect that the eagle has been perched above that section of the colony at the start of the survey as we noted the birds stayed farther offshore than usual and they made few trips to burrows before the eagle left. Within 10 minutes of the eagle leaving, birds flew in large groups and perched on the bluff around burrows and birds perched on rocks near shore, more normal behavior.
disturbance - Start eagle (Lg) The eagle was perched on a limb of a dead tree leaning over the beach just north of the colony when we arrived at 7:15. Birds were far offshore, most were not visible. Although the eagle flew off at 7:28, the majority of birds had not come in close enough to shore to see easily until 7:50.
disturbance - 7:30 unknown (End) Walking back after the survey ended we noted an eagle perched a little south of Burrow 27 which had not been there at 7:20 when Mariana walked past that area to start the survey, but none of us saw when the eagle first perched there so cannot definitively correlate it with the onset and duration of this disturbance.

disturbance - 7:36 boat.m (N) Second boat arrived 7:45. No impact on PGs
disturbance - h:m6:50m eagle (N) Eagle flew south and perched atop tree north of southernmost group of burrows . No significant affect on birds in any of areas who were already on water fairly far out from shore
